The Tale of Three Little Witches
I had hoped to have our annual storybook costumes ready to share this weekend, however a week long sickness swept our house by storm and put all last minute sewing on hold until babies and little girls alike need a little less of mama’s arms.
That being said, after three days of snuggles, spirits began to fade as we all wished for that old familiar feeling of health and vibrant energy.
In an effort to lift the spirits in a creative way that required little energy from the unwell girls, and still allowed mama’s lap to be fully shared, I turned to a favorite printable resource; MERRILEE LIDDIARD
I purchased the Dress up Witch and the Halloween Cupcake Toppers. We dug into our basket of scrap fabrics and turned them into little puppets using popsicle sticks.
All snuggled in bed I used the new witches and friends to help narrate an off the cuff prose about two little witches.
The sweet dears took such a liking to the story they began to fill in my blanks, develop the characters and ask me to tell it again and again and make it longer.
I took notes as they shared the details of their witches and throughout the day, I’d jot down a line here and there as they came to me.
As the story continued to grow, full of familiar October-y things reflecting a great many details of our own world, it only seemed proper that a third little witch needed to be added. And so it became The Tale of Three Little Witches.
But you’ll have to forgive me, as the picture I took of the puppets only includes the original two. That aside, I hope you enjoy reading our October tale.
Lastly, it would be an absolute shame not to share the character notes developed by the girls. To know these little witches, is to love them.

As always, I hope this adds a bit of joy to your day. Thank you always for being here and sharing in our creative endeavors of all kinds.
