Seed to Seed: The Seed Keepers Manifesto

On the eve of our highly anticipated seed starting party with some of our very dearest friends, little words and rhymes began to circle round the midnight moon as I sat up nursing my youngest. Sleepy eyed, but wide awake, I scribbled down a few lines before drifting back to dreams.

Following the day’s joy-filled event, and coming home filled with the inspiration we needed to busy ourselves preparing our bit of earth for all the plans we have, a few more lines began to take form. And after a bit of shuffling words around the page, The Little Seed Keepers Society was put into words.

The Little Seed Keepers Society was written for my dear girls based on a dream I’ve held, to share the joy and abundance of our garden with friends near and far in tangible ways. And I do so love to hold such ideas and memories in the form of words. It is comprised of personal anecdotes, seasonal observations, an ode to Miss Rumphius, and a hope that the vision for a Little Seed Keepers Society can grow organic little roots of its own and become something that I feel truly proud to foster. In the end, it reads a bit like a manifesto, but also an invitation. I think perhaps it is many things, or at least it is to me. And I hope that it can be something for you as well.

I still have ever so much to share, little bits about starting our seeds, more details for our garden plan and lots of pictures of course. But for now, I’ll finish with a list of some of our favorite garden resources and small shops featured in these photos. As always, my deepest gratitude for allowing me a place in your day to share the joys that are part of ours.
